The Nintendo Switch

Hey everyone! I hope the spring has treated you well. I’m looking forward to summer this year to play with the Switch! First let me tell you my about my difficulty obtaining it. I ordered the Switch Zelda/Mariokart bundle online from GameStop’s website last month. Then it never arrived! I wasn’t charged luckily, but I received mixed answers from GameStop’s support email about the status of my order. I had to call the customer service line and was recommended to order again. I realized whenever I have ordered things from their website I always have some sort of problem. So I went into the store to order and asked if I could pick it up in store. Technically it’s still an online order, but I hoped it would be different this way. Luckily this time it worked out, but I did have to settle for another bundle. The MarioKart game arrived early and then the console along with accessories arrived separately on the listed release date. Next problem- There were no codes in the box …

Pax South 2017 (Part 2)

Well after the Nintendo Switch I debated going back, but I didn’t really feel like doing the weird line again. So instead I tried a few indie games and this is the one the liked most. The Painter’s Apprentice This side-scrolling action game is inspired by art. The character uses his paint brush to fight enemies and advance in the game. You pick up paint tubes for more colors and can switch between colors. Only when you wield the same color as the monster you can defeat it. The backgrounds are inspired by different movements in art. I feel that aspect can be pushed a lot more, but I am happy there is interest in art history here. We will see though since it isn’t released yet. Next up I played two games at the Trion booth! I tried out an mmo called Trove.

Pax South 2017 (part 1)

Pax South was a lot of fun this year. Pax is a video game convention. It was the first time I went solo to a convention. I met up with my friend here and there, but we had different agendas. It was also the first time I carried a journal with me to keep a captain’s log of my experience. Pax South is a three day event, but I’ve found two days are more than enough for me. Pax South Day 1 The day started out with me getting into the wrong line for the expo hall. Good grief! I was kicking myself mentally and quickly made it to where I should have been. I love Fridays because it has a smaller crowd compared to the weekend. So this is the day for trying as many things as I could. I headed first to the Nintendo Switch booth. The lines were confusing because one wrapped around the booth and others didn’t even have much space. They had to keep the line short so a person …

Monster Hunter Generations -Thoughts and Resources

I hope you are doing well! Its been crazy hot and humid in Texas. Good thing monster Hunter Generations has kept me entertained indoors! I’ve been enjoying this game so much. Monster Hunter is all about hunting large monsters with the help of NPC companions, friends, or random players online. By taking down monsters that are causing havoc you can use items from them to make armor and weapons for your palico companions. ┬áIt is very different from the previous game. The introduction of Hunter Arts has made the hunt really fun! By attacking or being attacked you fill up a gauge to perform a special attack. The great part is being able to pick which ones you want to use out of many choices. The biggest change is in the Hunting Styles. Now you can choose how your hunter fights. With aerial style you jump and attack. This makes it ideal for mounting a monster to knock it down. You can also specialize in counter attacks (adept), focus on skills (striker), or keep it …

Pokemon Go Obssesed

I didn’t imagine I would ever get into a mobile app phone game. Usually I get bored within a short time, but this is the most fun and promising game yet. I had to try it as a fan of Pokemon. I love their games! I went out Sunday and saw hoards of people walking together, couples strolling in parks, and parents with their kids looking for Pokemon. I found myself being asked by my co-workers about the game, because people came in looking for Pokemon. It surprised me how quickly people have picked up the game. I’ve heard there will be many improvements headed our way; There will be new game mechanics such as leader scoreboards and customization of gyms. That will keep me intrigued to see what amazing things come.
